Open Afternoon Song Lyrics

Here is a copy of 'Wings' which we are singing at our Open Afternoon to practise at home.

Wings

Sunlight comes creeping in
Illuminates our skin
We watch the day go by
Stories of all we did
It made me think of you
It made me think of you

Under a trillion stars
We danced on top of cars
Took pictures of the stage
So far from where we are
They made me think of you
They made me think of you

Oh lights go down
In the moment we're lost and found
I just wanna be by your side
If these wings could fly
(For the rest of our lives

I'm in a foreign state
My thoughts they slip away
My words are leaving me
They caught an aeroplane
Because I thought of you
Just from the thought of you

Oh lights go down
In the moment we're lost and found
I just wanna be by your side
If these wings could fly
Oh damn these walls
In the moment we're ten feet tall
And how you told me after it all
We'd remember tonight
For the rest of our lives

If these wings could fly

Oh lights go down
In the moment we're lost and found
I just wanna be by your side
If these wings could fly
Oh damn these walls
In the moment we're ten feet tall
And how you told me after it all
We'd remember tonight
For the rest of our lives

Paisley Museum

To support our learning about WW2, Primary 7 visited the Paisley Museum to participate in a workshop.

Laura told us all about the duties of an Air Raid Patrol Warden and Scott was able to try out the uniform and equipment that they would need to carry with them in preparing for or during an air raid.

We also learned about the different forms of shelter that people would have had to build and use to remain as safe as possible during 'The Blitz'.

We discussed evacuation and were able to see inside an evacuee suitcase and identify the different items a child might have taken with them if they were being evacuated for safety. It was very difficult for us to decide what we would take, especially as we wouldn't have iPads and Playstations to take with us!

Laura talked to us all about rationing and how everyone had to make a big effort to ration the use of all foods and materials, and also how many people began to grow their own foods anywhere possible.

Lastly, we were able to go and have a look at genuine WW2 artifacts, including telegrams sent and signed by Hitler himself and real pieces of shrapnel from bombings of the First Aid Post in the Woodside area of Paisley that killed 92 people.

We had a super fun morning and learned lots of information that will help us in the rest of our topic!

Here we are enjoying our visit.

Kickstart Relaunch!

On Wednesday afternoon, Primary 7 relaunched Kirklandneuk's very successful Kickstart exercise classes.

We have recently been trained by P.E teacher Brian Millar on a range of different exercises that are beneficial to the body in keeping fit and healthy. This tied in with our 'Making Healthy Choices' topic last term, though we aim to continually develop our health and fitness.

Primary 7 have been working really hard to develop their fitness through participation and leading of circuit and HIT classes and are now able to deliver their very own circuit training classes to members of the community. Our instructors did a fabulous job in leading a warm up, 12 different exercise stations and a cool down.

Please come along and join our fortnightly Kickstart sessions on Wednesday afternoons, 2.15 - 3pm. For the price of just £2, adults gain entry and a membership card to the class, receive free water and fruit and after attending five sessions, the sixth is free! Children go free.

Here we are in action!

Food Technology

As I'm sure you are all aware, Primary 7 have had a huge focus on Food Technology and developing our cooking skills.

Already in Term 3 we have been lucky enough to visit Renfrew High twice to practise our skills in the Home Economics department. We made a delicious, healthy bacon pasta dish which we then also wrote our own recipes for, and designed our own food packaging having learned all about the nutritional information and the traffic light system.

We also thoroughly enjoyed a visit from Development Chef Derek Lockett from Brakes who helped us make a delicious vegetable soup. He taught us about lots of different exotic vegetables that we had never heard of before!

Through our Food Technology experiences, we have been utilising and refining a range of different skills, including chopping, slicing, peeling, grating, weighing, measuring, and listening very carefully to the recipe instructions we need to follow.

Lots of boys and girls have been practising these skills at home to recreate dishes we have made or experiment with some of their own! Please continue to send in pictures and videos of any cooking skills used at home as we have loved seeing the children develop these independently.

Here are some pictures of us cooking up a storm with Derek and at Renfrew High.

Xmas Party

Primary 7 had a fabulous time at our Christmas party this afternoon! We had a Just Dance competition and showed off all of our moves - it was very difficult to judge the winners! We played party games like Musical Arms and posed for pictures in the Christmas photo booth!

Here we are having lots of festive fun.
