Food Technology

As I'm sure you are all aware, Primary 7 have had a huge focus on Food Technology and developing our cooking skills.

Already in Term 3 we have been lucky enough to visit Renfrew High twice to practise our skills in the Home Economics department. We made a delicious, healthy bacon pasta dish which we then also wrote our own recipes for, and designed our own food packaging having learned all about the nutritional information and the traffic light system.

We also thoroughly enjoyed a visit from Development Chef Derek Lockett from Brakes who helped us make a delicious vegetable soup. He taught us about lots of different exotic vegetables that we had never heard of before!

Through our Food Technology experiences, we have been utilising and refining a range of different skills, including chopping, slicing, peeling, grating, weighing, measuring, and listening very carefully to the recipe instructions we need to follow.

Lots of boys and girls have been practising these skills at home to recreate dishes we have made or experiment with some of their own! Please continue to send in pictures and videos of any cooking skills used at home as we have loved seeing the children develop these independently.

Here are some pictures of us cooking up a storm with Derek and at Renfrew High.
